Radio Trailer Research

Before we made our own radio trailer, I first researched existing radio trailers.

CONVENTIONS OF A RADIO TRAILER:

  • voice over, with hints of sound/speech from the film
  • information at the end of the trailer, including release date and certificate
  • the slogan/tagline to the film
  • sound effects, music
The purpose of a radio trailer is to persuade various audiences to watch the film. Radio trailers tend to be played on radio stations appropriate to the target audience of the film; for example the trailer to a children/teen film would most likely not be played on a station such as Classic FM.

ANALYSIS OF A RADIO TRAILER:

As radio trailers are difficult to find on the internet, finding one to match our chosen film genre was impossible. Therefore I found a popular radio trailer for 50 Shades Of Grey, which was a trailer to announce the upcoming film trailer that would be released soon. It includes all the conventions of a radio trailer.
