Final Film Questionnaire Results & Analysis

In order to find out what our target audience's opinion was of our final film, we created a questionnaire for people to answer after watching our film that asked them various questions about the plot and design of the film. This enabled us to see whether our previous target audience research was useful in helping us create a film that gave our audience what they wanted to see.
Here is a screenshot of the questionnaire we made:
We had 14 responses to our questionnaire, and this is the spreadsheet showing the answers to the questions:

We then decided to analyse these results further by creating numerous pie charts of what we viewed as the most important questions.

After our original research on film certificates we decided our film would be rated a 15, therefore our target audience when making the film was 15+, focused around the 15/18 year old mark rather than adults, although we knew our film could be enjoyed by adults as well. In our questionnaire, we discovered most people who watched the film & answered the questionnaire were in the 15-18 and 18-30 categories as 10 out of the 14 people fit into those categories. This shows our film accurately represents our target audience and attracts them, therefore our planning around the target audience we wanted to watch it worked.

We then asked people to rate the appearance of the film, meaning the props, costume and colour scheme of the film. Over half of those asked said 'very good', with almost all the rest saying 'good' - with only one answer of 'average'. However this is mirrored in reviews for most films, there are always a few negative ones amongst good ones; so this shows that overall our work on mise-en-scene worked well in representing what our target audience wish to see in a film.

When asked what genre the audience thought our film was classified as (which we had planned it to be a psychological thriller/horror film), almost a third of those asked said 'psychological horror/thriller', with almost everyone else saying 'horror'. This shows that we accurately managed to include typical iconography and follow the general codes and conventions of a psychological horror film as our audience could easily tell what genre it was.

Finally, we decided to ask the audience if the film scared them as we had included a jump scare at the end as well as hoping to build suspense and increase nerves in our audience. Over half said 'yes' that the film scared them, with only one person asked saying 'not really'. However this again mirrors standard horror movie reviews, different things scare different people and one must take into account the fact we don't know how easily scared by horror films our audience members are. However, the ones that rated 'yes' were the ones in the 15-18 and 18-30 age groups, which were our intended audience.
