The costumes normally show who is who as the antagonist (villain) matches with the setting e.g. if it was in an office they would match i.e. a suit, ours will be in an art studio so it could match with that, the costumes match the setting because they show some realism towards the plot and story line,
the protagonist (hero) in the film normally wears bright colours so is the opposite of the villain, so our protagonist could be very bright in comparison, although sometimes in films the person that wears the strangest clothes can sometimes highlight a characters mental state as if they don't match the setting it shows that they might not really be there,
The lighting is normally low level so that it adds more to the psychological thriller, and makes the audience feel anxious and suspicious when they see things, it can also create shadows in certain lights which makes the audience feel more fear than they did before they noticed it.
The props that are used are important as in most they use them to give some indication as to what is going to happen, they can also keep the audience interested in what is going on, mirrors are something that come up in psychological thrillers a lot as they can sometime show the characters true self or maybe the dark side of them.
