Syd Fields narrative theory:

This theory suggest that each film has three main acts to the plot. These acts include the following:

Act one: this is one of the most important acts as the audience will decided whether or not they like the film in the first ten minutes of viewing it. So it is very important that the film is set up early on in the film, and the audience is able to have an immediate sense of what to expect form the rest of the film, by setting the tone of the film, as well as the personalities and the films genre.

Act two: This is the confrontation part of the film, the main character would be experiencing a variety of bad situations in which they have to deal with. the plot then turns around so the character/ characters is/are able to fight this battle, by realising what is exactly going wrong and make a plan to deal with it.

Act three: all problems are resolved, as the hero is able to take control of all the problems that have been occurring by confronting the source of these problems.
